Dear Readers,

I am the author and illustrator of the ever growing and evolving Huckleberry Hollow Children's Book Series.My Picture books represent my passion and appreciation for our amazing Canadian wildlife. As Long as I can remember I've loved animals. Growing up, my father would often take my mother , sister and I hiking in the mountains of the beautiful West Kootenay region Of B.C. I remember then how magical it was to suddenly see a deer in the forest and to come across a bear gorging himself on huckleberries.

Later on , as a primary teacher , I wanted to inspire my students to understand and appreciate the animals that inhabited our world. I would often reach for animal stories that touched my heart to share with my class during a daily story time. Story time was a highlight everday of my teaching career. It definitely played a part in awakening the desire to create animal based stories.

Bonita has released "Ice" & "Fire" , the first and second volumes of the "The Chronicles Of Mineria". She is now working on volume three entitled "Air".

Like many authors, Bonita used to be a teacher. Several years ago, she took a leave of absence from her 20 year teaching career to devote more time to her wildlife painting and discovered a way to combine both talents into one very satisfying new career as a children's author and illustrator. The intent was to create stories and images that would introduce children to our amazing Canadian wildlife,stories that would inspire children to read , dream , imagine , laugh and feel empathy for the animals we share our world with.

In addition to writing , painting and producing books , Bonita spends much of her time traveling , giving presentations and workshops in schools and libraries on writing and illustrating. She hosts workshops for both children and adult audiences,sharing orignal illustrations,writing strategies,illustrating techniques and a"Work In Progress" to show what is involved in preparing a book for publishing.

Works in progress at this time include the second volume of in the fantasy trilogy "Chronicles of Mineria", and a new picture book for the Huckleberry Hollow Series called "One-Eye". This Book Will Feature the beloved little mouse , Nibbles, that hides in the illustrations of every book Bonita has created,inlcuding "The Chronicles Of Mineria."
